Youth arrested in Sylvan Lake after armed robbery

The 13-year-old youth was charged with robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

A youth in Sylvan Lake has been arrested after an armed robbery. 

On May 3, at 6:54 p.m., a Community Peace Officer who was off-duty observed a youth robbing another youth with a knife. 

Police came on the scene and quickly located the youth who attempted to run on foot. 

The youth was chased down successfully and arrested. 

A knife was located in their backpack. 

The 13-year-old youth who cannot be named has been charged with robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

No injuries were reported during the incident. 

The youth was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released.

Their next court date is set for July 26 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Sylvan Lake.
