Nominations are officially open for this year's Youth Spark Awards in Sylvan Lake.
Community members can nominate youths who show leadership and determination, town staff said.
"This event lets our community honour youth who make a positive impact. The winners of each youth category will be entered to win the Youth Excellence Citizen of the Year Award."
Award categories include:
- Inspiration Award (Ages 8-18)
- Service and Caring Award (Ages 8-18)
- Arts and Culture Award (Ages 8-18)
- Athletic Ambassador Award (Ages 8-18)
- Spark Champion: Awarded to an adult who has gone above and beyond to be a champion for youth in the community (Ages 19 and up)
To be eligible to be nominated for an award youths:
- Must live or go to school in Sylvan Lake, or live within 15 kilometres of Sylvan Lake and have gone to school in Sylvan Lake
- Must fall within the age range by the nomination deadline
- Need never to have won a Youth Spark Award before as winners may only receive a Youth Spark Award once in their lifetime
- Must be nominated by someone outside their immediate family
To nominate a youth for an award, individuals must complete the online nomination form by the deadline of 5 p.m. on March 31.
