The Okotoks Dawgs fought to live another day.

With a chance to move on to the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) Championship Finals on Monday night the Sylvan Lake Gulls fell 3-2 in Game 2 of the West Division Finals.

On the road in Seaman Stadium, the Gulls were unable to close the series against the back-to-back defending league champions, despite solid pitching from starter Finbar O'Brien.

The Oregon native threw six innings, allowed just two runs on four hits, and struck out five batters. Relief pitcher Jalen Johnston pitched the final two innings where he gave up the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning off a triple by Dawgs Ricardo Sanchez.

Gulls Marquez Abulhosn led the way offensively for the Gulls with two runs batted in and Gavin Galenza recorded three hits on four at-bats.

The Gulls only runs came in the second and fourth innings where they held a brief 2-1 lead before the Dawgs tied it at two in the fifth inning.

The series now returns to Gulls Stadium on Tuesday night in Sylvan Lake for Game 3 at 7:05 p.m. with the winner advancing to the WCBL Championship Finals.

The Gulls took Game 1 on Sunday night in Sylvan Lake with a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning by Abulhosn.

Up 3-0 through after the first four innings, the Dawgs scored three runs late in the game. However, the Gulls rallied in front of their home crowd to win the game.

They'll hope to do the same on Tuesday.
