The Sylvan Lake Wranglers are on a nine-game winning streak after defeating the Mountainview Colts with a final score of 9-4 on Jan. 6 at home.

During the game, Reed Sparrow, Tyson Tisdale, Aydden Shaw, Hunter Adrian, and Maddex Bignell scored once, with Owen Callow and Hayden Motowylo each putting up a pair of goals.

“It was another good weekend for our team. We were tested, we played hard as a group and we are just gaining confidence as we go. It is a long season so anytime you can bank points and put yourself in a position to be successful, you are going to be happy with it,” Wranglers head coach Pat Garrity said.

Garrity added that even with the extended winning streak, the team can’t look too far ahead on the schedule. They are set for a pair of contests on Jan. 12 and 13.

“We’ve had some success recently, and we are grateful for that, but we know that every game is different, that we have to prepare the same way for every game, and that we have to be ready to go,” Garrity said.

The team this year has a lot of depth, he added.

“We’re a team that doesn’t have a ton of flash to our game but we got lots of good players.”

The Wranglers will be on the road Friday facing off against the Airdrie Thunder and then will be back home on Saturday to play against the Coaldale Copperheads at 8 p.m. at the NexSource Centre.

“We know that playing on the road is a little bit tougher and we can be in some angry buildings but our guys are up to the challenge and they relish the opportunity.”

Fans should have a great deal to look forward to during the game against the Copperheads, Garrity said.

“The Copperheads coming in are an exceptional team, we are just excited for the opportunity to play them at home and it is going to be a great game.”

Currently, the Wranglers are in first place in the Heritage Junior B Hockey League Northern Division standings with a 22-2-2 record.
