In Heritage Junior B Hockey League action, the Sylvan Lake Wranglers took down the Airdrie Techmation Thunder 6-2 in Airdrie on Jan. 3.
During the first period, the Wranglers Reed Sparrow opened the scoring with Karson Ledieu scoring later in the period.
Between the Wranglers' goals during the first, Brodie Davis scored an unassisted goal for the Thunder.
In the second, goals were scored by Josh Perreault and Aydden Shaw for the Wranglers, giving the visitors a 4-1 after two periods.
In the third, goals were scored by Xaiden Bignell and Maddex Bignell for Sylvan Lake. Maddex is fourth in the HJHL in scoring with 22 goals and 22 assists in 26 games. Teammate Josh Perreault 22 goals and 23 assists in 26 games, third overall in the HJHL.
While Mason Korf also scored a goal in the third for the Thunder, Sylvan Lake was able to close out the 6-2 victory.
Sylvan Lake leads the HJHL Northern Division with a 23-3-1 record, which is also tied for the best record in the league. Wranglers goalie Kaden Toussaint leads the HJHL with a 0.961 save percentage, a 1.12 goals against average, to go along with a 14-1-1 record. He also leads the HJHL with seven shutouts.
Next up, the Wranglers host the Coaldale Copperheads at the NexSource Centre on Jan. 10.
The Wranglers will then play another home game on Jan. 11 against the High River Flyers.
