Sylvan Lake's Ain Lee took second place in her age group category at the MJT Mini Tour's Alberta opener.

The Maple Leaf Junior (MJT) Golf Tour's Mini Tour for 12U players had its Alberta opener on May 5 at the Collicutt Siding Golf Club in Crossfield.

At the event, Sylvan Lake's Ain Lee placed second in the Girls 9-10 division.

Lee said the tournament was a great learning experience.

"Since it was the first tournament of the year, it really gave me an idea of what I need to work on."

During the event, weather conditions weren't optimal, Marketing and Communications Manager for MLJ Jessica Parker added.

"With relentless winds, intermittent rain, and cold temperatures, scoring became very challenging. In addition, the ball does not typically travel as far as normal in the cold air."

Lee has been part of the MJT since she was seven years old.

"I played my first two years in U8 Girls division and I moved up to 9-10 Girls division last year," Lee said.

At the event, Lee was short-listed for a position at the IMG Academy Junior World Championship.

Lee also got an invitation to the Future Championship Golf (FCG) Callaway World Championship in Palm Desert, California.

"I am very excited to meet other girls my age around the world and have an opportunity to compete with them," she said.

The next event on the MJT Alberta Mini Tour is the MJT Mini Tour Spring Series at the Blue Devil Golf Club in Calgary on May 25.
