WCBL releases schedule for 2024 season

Sylvan Lake Gulls fans can officially mark their calendars.

This week the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) released the schedule for all 12 teams for the upcoming 2024 campaign.

The season will kick off on Friday, May 24, and will wrap up on Aug. 5 before the playoffs start on Aug. 7.

The Gulls not be featured on opening day but will begin their season at home on May 25 against the Brooks Bombers followed by the Lethbridge Bulls on the 26th. They’ll play their first road game in Okotoks against the defending champion Dawgs on May 28.

The Gulls will also host a game on Father’s Day on Sunday, June 16 against the Regina Red Sox and will be on the road for Canada Day in Lethbridge for a doubleheader on Monday, July 1st.

For the third straight season, the WCBL All-Star Game will be held at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks on July 20. More information on the weekend and the home run derby will be released in the months ahead.

This season will also mark the inaugural year for the Saskatoon Berries who won’t play in Sylvan Lake until July 18 and 19.

To wrap up the season the Gulls will host the Brooks Bombers on their final series on Aug. 4 and 5.

The playoffs will get underway with the conference semi-finals first from Aug. 7-9 followed by the conference finals from Aug. 11-13.

The season will conclude with the WCBL Championship Finals from Aug. 15-17.
