Summer in Sylvan Lake just got a whole lot more exciting! Sylvan Lake Aqua Splash, the popular floating water park, is returning for the 2025 season, and with lower lake levels guests can expect some thrilling new additions built specifically for the conditions.
“We have some exciting new components coming for lower water levels," says Aqua Splash owner Charlie Everest. "Watch for things like rope swings, a double rocker and something called the Twisters. Just a whole bunch of fun stuff.”
These new features join the already massive lineup of floating attractions, which include up to 150 obstacles across the water park.
From nine-foot-high climbing slides and trampolines to monkey bars, bouncing domes and a towering feature simply called “The Mountain,” Aqua Splash continues to be a high-energy playground for all ages. Other favourites include launch bags that send guests flying through the air, quarter pipes, zigzags and “speed corners” designed to test your momentum and agility.
As Everest puts it, if it’s a floating obstacle, we’ve probably got it.”
Behind the scenes, it takes about two weeks and more than 100 hours of scuba diving to safely set up the intricate anchoring system that secures each component to the bottom of the lake. “There’s everything from screw anchors to concrete anchors,” Everest says. “Each component has to be tethered properly — safety is always the top priority.”
Aqua Splash is also well-staffed to keep guests safe and entertained. The park employs around 45 part-time and full-time team members, including 10 to 12 lifeguards, with at least five monitoring the water park during busy periods.
The 2025 season kicks off June 14 and 15, with additional weekend openings June 21 and 22, before moving to full daily operations starting June 28. The park will remain open through Labour Day, offering families plenty of chances to enjoy the splash-filled fun.
In addition to the obstacles, Aqua Splash offers a variety of on-shore activities to keep the energy high. “Every day we try to do something nice – handing out freezies, giving away passes or T-shirts, even running mini games while people wait in line,” Everest says. Special occasions like Canada Day will see even more giveaways and prizes.
And while the weather may be unpredictable, Everest encourages guests to embrace it. “Sometimes the best days to come are when it’s a little cooler. It’s not as busy, and the fun is still there.”
Above all, Aqua Splash remains committed to offering an affordable day of family fun. As Everest sums it up: “Just come on out and have a good time.”
