The Sylvan Lake Home Town Trade Show is back for its second year, bringing together local businesses, organizations and residents for a chance to connect, explore and experience the best of Sylvan Lake.
Running from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 4 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 5, the show is hosted by the Sylvan Lake News and the Town of Sylvan Lake at the NexSource Centre curling rink.
Experience a variety of vendors and activities
Boasting a wide array of participants, this year’s trade show features local businesses and organizations, alongside RVs, boats and classic cars on display, plus local favourite Drooling Lion Coffee, with on-site refreshments from their coffee cart. And be sure to visit The Wood Shed's mobile axe-throwing unit.

The Town of Sylvan Lake will also be well represented, with staff from five departments on hand to answer questions. Municipal enforcement officers will help visitors navigate the HotSpot parking app, and public works staff will offer advice on water conservation and proper goldfish disposal. The wellness team will also be available to share information about community programs and support services.
“Businesses play a vital role in our community's prosperity,” says Amanda Mercer, economic development officer for the Town of Sylvan Lake. “The Sylvan Lake Home Town Trade Show is an essential platform for fostering connections and encouraging community support.”
“Now more than ever, supporting local businesses is crucial, and the Sylvan Lake Home Town Trade Show is the perfect opportunity to do just that,” says Mayor Megan Hanson. “Come discover the many businesses that make up our community and invest in our neighbours to strengthen our local economy.”
Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring a donation for the Sylvan Lake Food Bank or contribute online.
“Last year we raised 162 pounds of food and donated $375 in cash to the Sylvan Lake Food Bank,” says Barb Pettie, publisher of the Sylvan Lake News. “With so much economic insecurity in Central Alberta, we know that many families struggle to buy even the food essentials. If this event can help with that, even a little bit, then that’s a success.”
