The Sylvan Lake Chamber of Commerce is adding a little Holiday Hustle to the community’s seasonal festivities!
Designed to encourage local shopping and bolster community engagement through an interactive scavenger hunt, the interactive Holiday Hustle campaign connects residents and local businesses through the Explore Sylvan Lake app.
“We want to foster a sense of community and encourage residents to prioritize local businesses during the holiday season,” says Denise Bryan-Williams , executive director with the Chamber.
Businesses interested in joining the Holiday Hustle can still sign up for $75, with a $25 gift for members, or for $100, with a gift card of $25 for non-members.
The hunt runs until Dec. 18, with registration for businesses closing Dec. 1.
Participants can Simply download the free Explore Sylvan app, click on the Santa Hat in the PLAY section, and complete as many “missions” possible, listed by participating businesses.
Tasks can be completed in any order and may include activities like searching a business’s website to find specific information. “The primary objective is to highlight and promote the participating businesses, fostering a better understanding of their values to the community,” Bryan-Williams says.

The grand prize is a $500 in local gift card and the big winner will be announced during the week of Dec. 18.
“We’re excited to see the community come together for this event,” she adds. “If successful, we plan to expand this initiative, offering bigger prizes and more challenges in future editions.”

Shopping locally contributes to a strong, vibrant, sustainable community, Bryan-Williams notes, adding that local businesses are also integral to community events and sponsorship. By supporting them, residents help build a stronger sense of community connection.
“Spending locally helps create jobs, foster community pride and is essential for a healthy local economy.”
Any business or non-profit organization can apply for membership with the Sylvan Lake Chamber of Commerce through their website. Membership benefits include networking opportunities , business visibility, advocacy, educational resources, and digital presence on the Explore Sylvan Lake app. All businesses involved are based in Sylvan Lake, but having a physical storefront is not necessary for participation.
