A collision on Highway 20 last Thursday morning claimed the life of the driver of a Ford Ranger.

Sylvan Lake RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on the slippery highway between Aspelund and Rainy Creek Roads about 8 a.m.

A Ford Ranger and GMC Yukon both received extensive damage in the collision, reported Cpl. Kevin Halwa. “The driver and passenger of the Yukon were extracted from their vehicle with assistance of Bentley Fire Department. Both were transported to Red Deer Regional Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.”

The driver and lone occupant of the Ranger died at the scene as a result of the collision.

A witness advised police the Ranger was noted “to appear to lose control moments prior to the collision”.

Red Deer collision analysts are assisting with the investigation. The name of the deceased isn’t being released at this time, advised Halwa.
