Alberta Newcomer Recognition Awards extend submission deadline

Anyone who's immigrated to Canada from another country can be nominated
The submission deadline for the awards has been extended to July 15 at noon.

The deadline for submissions to nominate individuals for the Alberta Newcomer Recognition Awards has been extended to noon on Monday, July 15. 

The awards celebrate the contributions of Albertans born abroad. 

For a nominee to be eligible they must have been born outside of Canada, currently live in Alberta, and now either have their Canadian citizenship or be permanent residents.

It also doesn't matter if the nominee has resided in Canada for many years or just a few. As long as they meet the other qualifications, they can be nominated. 

Nomination categories include:

- Career and Academics Contribution: Professional or academic excellence

- Entrepreneurial Spirit: Owner of a small or medium-sized business who demonstrates leadership and innovation

- Inclusive Workplaces: Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace

- Newcomer Champion: Supporting newcomers to succeed

- Senior Spirit: Individuals (65 years or older) who enriches their community

- Small Community Enhancement: Contributions to a rural community

- Student Inspiration: A young leader in Grade 12 or under

- Women's Newcomer Impact: A female leader in her community

- Young Leader: Individuals 18 to 30 who have made a difference 

After nominations are submitted they are reviewed by the Alberta Newcomer Recognition Awards committee to review. 

Recipients of the awards will later be formally recognized at a ceremony.
