Movement of two commercial businesses in the downtown core was highlighted in building statistics for March, according to information released by the town earlier this month.

A permit was issued for tenant improvements valued $20,000 in Cobbs Block Central for relocation of Bayview Café to that building. Another permit was issued for tenant improvements ($2,000 value) for an unspecified new business for a portion of the space previously occupied by Bayview in the Chateau Suites building.

A third permit was issued for improvements (valued at $10,000) for a nail and spa business in the 50th Street location previously occupied by Guys & Dolls Hair Salon which has also moved to Cobbs Block Central.

The majority of the $1,625,995 in permits issued was for single family homes with six underway with construction values ranging from $217,855 to $266,875 (totalling $1,474,595). Two of the homes are being building in Ryders Ridge, two in Beacon Hill, one in Crestview and one in Fieldstone.

Other residential permits were issued for seven basement developments and one deck.

A single permit was issued for creation of a second floor mezzanine in an industrial building on Erickson Drive.

Year-to-date building statistics show construction valued at $12.684 million permitted in the first three months, compared to $10.172 million in the previous year. Permits have been issued for 17 new homes while in 2013 permits were issued in the first three months for 21 homes. On the flip side, permits have been issued for 38 units in multi-family buildings this year, while last year that tally was 16 units.
