Charged following fight outside Monkey Top

Saturday, Feb. 16th

7:05 a.m. – A male is facing a charge of careless driving in connection with a single vehicle rollover on Range Road 23 in Red Deer County. The male was uninjured when the member arrived and was standing beside his vehicle. He exhibited signs of impairment and was issued a 24 hour suspension. His vehicle was also seized and towed from the scene.

6:44 p.m. – RCMP received a complaint of vandalism in progress at the organized speed skating event on Sylvan Lake. Two males were spotted driving two dark coloured trucks on the tracks. One plate was obtained by witnesses and reported to police. The vehicles left the scene before RCMP arrived.

Sunday, Feb. 17th

12:01 a.m. – Police were called to a fight in the Bentley area. Witnesses contacted police saying a large number of people were involved in a fight outside the Monkey Top Saloon. When RCMP arrived, the group had mostly dispersed but one male was charged with assault after it was determined that he had struck his spouse in the face. He is currently facing a charge of assault.

Tuesday, Feb 19th

1:54 p.m. – An incident of vandalism was reported to police after a male advised that his vehicle was damaged while parked in his driveway on 39th Street in Sylvan Lake. Two of his truck tires were slashed during the overnight hours but no one heard anything at the time of the incident. RCMP attended but did not find any suspicious individuals in the area.

Friday, Feb. 22nd

11:24 p.m. – RCMP received a call of a domestic dispute at a residence on Jarvis Glen Way. When members attended, a female advised that her spouse had threatened her son but would not provide any concrete details. A while later, police were called back to meet with the male who advised that he had been assaulted by the female who struck him in the face and the ribs. Further investigation has resulted in a charge of assault against the female.
