Complaints of loud noise resulted in parties being shut down

RCMP are investigating vandalism at the community centre on 43rd Street in Sylvan Lake which occurred sometime over the weekend.

Monday, May 12th

9:01 a.m. - RCMP are investigating vandalism at the community centre on 43rd Street in Sylvan Lake which occurred sometime over the weekend. The gate was pulled off the fence and another gate was flattened. Shingles were torn off the roof and holes were also punched into the drywall in the women’s washroom. The playground boat and musical instruments were also damaged. The suspect or suspects fled the scene prior to officers arriving.

Tuesday, May 13th

6:17 p.m. - A witness reported a suspicious male in the vicinity of UFA in Sylvan Lake. A male in his early thirties with short hair and a dark complexion reportedly pulled up to a male fueling his vehicle at the UFA gas pump and offered him a gold ring in exchange for cash. The male refused and the suspect drove away in a rental vehicle.

10:03 p.m. - RCMP were called to a residence on 48th Street in Sylvan Lake after complaints of a loud party. The property owner was spoken to and was co-operative with police. The party was shut down and there were no further incidents.

Wednesday, May 14th

2:11 a.m. - Police attended a domestic dispute on 48th Avenue. A 56-year-old female advised that her roommate, a 30-year-old male was intoxicated and was in the backyard yelling, causing a disturbance. Members arrived on scene and were advised that the male had gone to sleep and there was no longer a concern.

12:39 p.m. - RCMP dispatch received a call for assistance from a Lacombe County officer. The officer had stopped an individual operating an off road vehicle and found the male to be under a Criminal Code suspension not to drive unless the vehicle being driven is equipped with an alcohol sensing device. A 33 year old Eckville male was arrested by RCMP on the scene and the off road vehicle was also seized. He is charged with driving while disqualified.

Thursday, May 15th

3:11 a.m. - A loud house party on Old Boomer Road resulted in RCMP attendance. Complainants advised that several young adults were partying at the residence for the past three evenings and creating a disturbance. Police officers attended and shut down the party. A verbal warning was issued to the property owner who was also advised that another incident would result in a fine.

11:30 a.m. - RCMP received a report of mischief to a parked vehicle on 48th Avenue in Sylvan Lake. A company vehicle was parked overnight on the street when a road maintenance sign was used to dent the vehicle’s driver’s side headlight and front panel.
