SKATING BREAK – Three-year-old Rome Lyda takes a break from learning how to skate and rides in the sled while her father Kevin pulls her along the ice.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to skate with Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf atop a frozen mountain?

On Sunday, January 22 there will be no need to journey to Arendelle as the characters from the popular movie, Frozen, will be making a special trip to Sylvan Lake.

Hosted by the Town of Sylvan Lake, the family fun filled event will see the Elsa and Anna skating away on the outdoor rink at Leader Field. Residents of Sylvan Lake and area are invited to join the cast of Frozen for skating, sledding, face painting, hot chocolate and s’mores.

Located on the corner of Memorial Drive and Lakeway Boulevard, Leader Field is an ideal location for winter activities complete with a tournament house to warm up in and a sledding hill.

The event is free of cost with attendees only needing to bring winter wear, skates and a sled if they wish to try their hand on the hill.

Kaelon Glowatski, Special Event Programmer for the Town of Sylvan Lake, explained organizers are thrilled to be able to host the Frozen characters for a snowy day of skating and sledding.

“We really wanted a way to bring the community together in January that was free of cost and fun for the whole family,” said Glowatski. “The Frozen characters are very well known and recognizable. It’s going to be a great day and we are really looking forward to having them here.”

She explained that because the event is scheduled to take place outside residents and those wishing to attend are invited to follow the Sylvan Lake Recreation and Culture department on Facebook at www.facebook.com/SLRecAndCulture for up to date details on the event pertaining to weather related issues.

The event is set to take place from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, January 22 at Leader Field in Sylvan Lake. For more information contact the Sylvan Lake Recreation and Culture department at 403 887 2199.
