Lacombe County cancelled its fire ban at 8 a.m. last Friday however County Commissioner Terry Hager urged people to exercise caution when burning.

Fire permits are required for all open fires other than outdoor camp fires which are used for cooking or warming purposes and burning barrels.

Sylvan Lake Fire Chief Cliff Brausen lifted the fire ban in town shortly after that on Friday morning.

Red Deer County reacted about noon last Friday to lift its fire ban.

Fire permits are still required for all open fires within the county, stated David Laurin, District Fire Chief.

Campfires are allowed without a permit but must be contained within an acceptable fire pit.

Burning is also allowed again in the summer villages around the lake and at Jarvis Bay Campground.
