In 2017 Michele Greer was Miss Ponoka Stampede. Now she’s making custom pieces of wearable art and they’re all on display and for sale at the Wild West Trade Show at the Ponoka Arena Complex during Stampede Week.
For Greer, displaying her work at the trade show felt like the perfect segue from Ponoka Stampede representative to wearable western art. She actually takes clothing and shoes, and decorates them with a high quality acrylic paint.
Her customers appreciate her work, including the current Miss Rodeo Canada Mackenzie Skeels. Skeels bought a pair of Vans that have been custom painted with rodeo action.
Plus, Brinson James, the rodeo entertainer for PBR Canada, ordered a custom pair with PBR on the shoes.
It’s not just sneakers she paints; Greer has a range of artwork on boots and more.
It all started in 2020 after seeing a friend custom paint a pair of white Vans. She tried her hand at it and instantly sold a pair.
“From the very beginning in 2020, the response has been fantastic,” said Greer.
