Permits for four multi-family residential complexes in January gave Sylvan Lake’s building statistics an early boost, almost tripling the previous year’s first month total.

It was all about new housing when statistics for the opening month of the year were issued by the town Feb. 3.

Besides 28 units in multi-family and rowhouse buildings, permits were issued for five new single family homes. Three of those homes were in the Beacon Hill subdivision, one in Ryders Ridge and one in Pierview. Construction value of the homes ranged from $164,550 to $316,575. Combined the total value was $1,185,600.

Value of construction for the multi-family units was pegged at just over $3 million. Three of the four buildings are on Reid Court and the other is on Rowberry Court, all in Ryders Ridge subdivision.

January’s permit value totalled $4,341,540 compared to $1.573 million in January 2013.
