Giant Tiger will be hosting a live stream concert on Nov. 1 that will feature Canadian musicians including Lacombe’s own Gord Bamford.

The country music singer is working in partnership with Giant Tiger and the other musicians to raise awareness for Operation Santa Clause.

Operation Santa Clause is an initiative by Support Our Troops that sends care packages to members of the Canadian military who are deployed during Christmas.

Giant Tiger is an annual partner for Operation Santa Clause and since 2014 has contributed $500,000 in product to fill care packages for soldiers who are away from their families during the holidays.

“This is such an important cause for us because it provides our fellow Canadians who so selflessly serve our country a reminder of how much we appreciate their dedication and service,” Giant Tiger said in an email.

The performer Gowan, who was in the band Styx, will host the concert on Sunday. He will also host the French language concert that begins at 8 p.m. on Nov. 1.

The concert kicks off fundraising efforts in Giant Tiger stores across Canada from Nov. 1 to 11 for Operation Santa Clause. Donations can be made at checkout.

Viewers who are interested in tuning in can go to Giant Tigers Facebook page at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1.
