Unexpected landing

Turbulent weather in the mountains forced pilot Peter Killam of Campbell River to set down on Sylvan Lake Saturday. He was delivering a 1956 Beaver from Cochrane, Ontario to Salmon Arm. Getting as far as Banff, he found a storm too great to get through and then when he tried to go through the pass in the Cranbrook area his wind speed was reduced to such an extent that he was running low on gas.

According to Charlie Everest, the boat guys at Sunsport Recreation sold him about 325 litres and he was on his way again Sunday morning.

Killam, a water bomber by trade had remembered Sylvan Lake when he started looking for a place to set down.
