Marijuana and drug paraphernalia seized from vehicle

An 18-year-old Sylvan Lake male is facing charges as a result of a traffic stop on 44th Street in Sylvan Lake.

Saturday, February 15th

6:58 a.m. — An 18-year-old Sylvan Lake male is facing charges as a result of a traffic stop on 44th Street in Sylvan Lake. The male exhibited signs of impairment and his vehicle was seized at the scene. He is charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level over .08.

11:58 p.m. — A 911 call was received of a fight in progress at an event at the Best Western Chateau Inn in Sylvan Lake. A wedding was being held at the hotel when an altercation broke out between two females. There were minor injuries sustained and EMS was not required. Neither party wanted charges. Alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Sunday, February 16th

7:22 p.m. — RCMP received a request to remove an intoxicated male from the Dairy Queen on 50th Avenue in Sylvan Lake. The male in his thirties was extremely intoxicated and standing by the door holding his shoes. He then left the restaurant and was seen by witnesses walking in the middle of the road heading towards Hazzard County bar. He was located by RCMP members coming out of the bar without his shoes and was lodged in cells until sober.

Monday, February 17th

1:20 a.m. — RCMP on patrol along Highway 11 observed two vehicles stopped on a dead end road on Township Road 384. The member detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from one of vehicles. The occupants, three 16-year-old males, one 16-year-old female and a 20-year-old female, all from Sylvan Lake, were questioned. A quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was seized. Parents of the youths were contacted and advised to transport the vehicles back to their residences. So far a charge of careless driving has been laid against a 16-year-old male. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Wednesday, February 19th

6:56 a.m. — A 39-year-old Sylvan Lake male contacted RCMP after his vehicle was stolen from outside his residence overnight. The male’s truck was parked inside the driveway of his residence and was locked. The vehicle was recovered a short time later in Lacombe, Alberta. An investigation is continuing.

7:27 a.m. — RCMP are investigating a theft from a vehicle which was parked outside an address on Logan Court in Sylvan Lake. The truck was entered into overnight and the inside of the vehicle was ransacked. A wallet was stolen as well as a few other items. The vehicle was locked at the time and there were no signs of forced entry.

Thursday, February 20th

8:56 a.m. — Another truck was reported stolen outside a residence in the Sylvan Lake area. A Ford F350 was parked outside an address on Kayton Estates and when the owner returned home, he contacted police advising it had been stolen. The vehicle has yet to be recovered and an investigation is ongoing.
