Plante plans to seek election to mayor’s position this fall

Describing himself as “extremely passionate and positive about Sylvan’s future”, Councillor Dale Plante announced his intention

Describing himself as “extremely passionate and positive about Sylvan’s future”, Councillor Dale Plante announced his intention to seek election to the mayor’s position in the municipal election this fall.

“I’m not afraid to lead the town through the changes and challenges that are inevitable. I am committed to all aspects of the community and having the Town of Sylvan Lake partner with various community organizations for a win-win,” he said.

Plante, a realtor with Sim Management and Realty, is in his first term as a councillor and has served on a variety of town committees during the past two and a half years.

“I am dedicated to progress and believe I have leadership capacity to move Sylvan Lake forward. All my life experiences have prepared me for this job.”

One of the things Plante said he’d promote is “open dialogue on issues because when you have different points of view, then you can uncover common ground and the result is we find better solutions.”

“A proud ambassador of Sylvan and a shameless promotion of this town,” Plante described himself as a “team player”.

“Together we can accomplish much more.”

Referring to the town’s Municipal Sustainability Plan he reiterated a quote from Leonard Sweet. “The future is not something we enter: the future is something we create.”

Plante said, “I want to be a key leader who helps create that future. We are a progressive, dynamic community with so much potential and we do not need to take a back seat to any other community when it comes to opportunities. I expect good things to come to Sylvan.”
