Police seeking witnesses to truck-cyclist collision

Police are looking for witnesses to a collision on 47th Avenue near McDonalds about noon Tuesday which injured a cyclist.

Police are looking for witnesses to a collision on 47th Avenue near McDonalds about noon Tuesday which injured a cyclist crossing the controlled intersection.

In particular police request a male witness by the name of Robert (last name unknown) who stopped and indicated he witnessed the collision, to contact them since the phone number he provided at the scene was incorrect, said RCMP Cpl. James Allemekinders.

A 50 year Sylvan Lake resident, the cyclist suffered very minor injuries and was treated and released on scene by Lacombe Ambulance personnel.

Witness accounts report the cyclist was crossing on a green light, Allemekinders indicated.

There was heavy traffic at the time of the collision.

Police are asking witnesses to contact Sylvan Lake RCMP at 403-858-7200.

The driver of the truck involved has been charged with two offences under the Traffic Safety Act.

Names of those involved are not being released.
