Ponoka RCMP investigate Highway 53 collision

Incident occurred in the late-evening hours of May 24

The Ponoka RCMP is investigating a serious injury collision on Highway 53 during the late-evening hours of May 24.

Around 10 p.m. officers received reports of a collision between a logging truck and a motorcycle on the highway west of Ponoka near the QE II.

Attending the scene, officers confirmed that the collision occurred and began the early stages of the investigation.

The motorcycle’s driver, a 24-year-old Lacombe County resident, was airlifted by STARS to hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

According to the RCMP media release, the driver of the logging truck was uninjured in the collision.

RCMP officers continue to investigate the matter.
