A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant was arrested near Eckville after taking police on two pursuits which involved officers from several jurisdictions.

Cody Feil, 26, of Red Deer, was wanted for being unlawfully at large since Dec. 12. He was located in the West Park area of Red Deer last Tuesday, but fled in a stolen vehicle.

As Feil continued out of the city, Sylvan Lake and Blackfalds RCMP members and Lacombe Police Service assisted Red Deer RCMP officers in locating him.

Feil now faces additional charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, six counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, fail to stop or remain, three counts of failure to stop while being pursued, three counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while disqualified, resisting or obstructing a peace officer and mischief not exceeding $5,000, stated RCMP Cpl. Leanne Molzahn, in a news release.

Several days before his arrest, RCMP had issued a request for the public’s assistance in locating Feil. He was described as “potentially dangerous; he has an extensive criminal history including flight, escaping from lawful custody and dangerous driving”.
