HAZZARD COUNTY - Puttin’ on the Foil played a two-day set at Harzzard County over the weekend.

Last weekend, the Okotoks based band Puttin’ on the Foil played a two night show at Hazzard County on Friday and Saturday evening.

The band plays a large eclectic play list which includes multiple genres, original songs and cover songs.

Band front man Kevin Rowland had a blast during his time in Sylvan Lake.

“It was fun,” he said. “It was great playing Hazzard; it is a great little bar.”

Rowland was particularly pleased with the great turnout he saw over the course of the two nights - including the 80s party they hosted on Saturday.

“Good people there in Sylvan Lake,” he said. “We are a party band for good times. We try to play everything for everyone. We try to hit all genres - rock, country, some heavy stuff and the 80’s stuff. We did the 80’s show on Saturday which was really fun because we get to do all the cheesy songs everyone knows and loves, as well as the Metallica and Slayer - fun stuff like that.”

Seeing people enjoy his music is what it’s all about for Rowland.

“It strokes your ego and makes you feel good - especially when they react to your original music,” he said. “Nothing beats folks knowing the words to your songs.”

Puttin’ on the Foil is quietly building a following in Central Alberta.

“I think there are lots of folks getting into us in Sylvan,” Rowland said. “It’s great when they come out wearing your shirts. We must be doing something right.”

“It’s great entertaining people,” he added.
