Stettler's 'Bad Santa' pleads guilty

Stettler's busy downtown jewellery shop, Wares Jewelers was in for a rude shock on Dec. 24, 2015 when someone dressed as Santa entered the facility and robbed the shop of some valuable items.

Last week, on Tuesday, March 14 the accused, 32-year-old Shawn Steier of Medicine Hat pleaded guilty in Stettler Provincial Court to Robbery with a Firearm, Disguised with Intent to Commit an Offence and other weapons-related offences for his part in the Christmas Eve robbery of Wares Jewelers located in Stettler.

Steier received three years in custody, a lifetime firearms prohibition, restitution and a fine.

Stettler RCMP would like to thank the public and their partners with the Calgary Police Service for their assistance in the successful conclusion of this investigation.
