Theft and vandalism reported around Sylvan Lake

RCMP received a call of an intoxicated male trying to leave an address on Sylvan Drive in a brown car.

February 9th

12:15 a.m. – RCMP received a call of an intoxicated male trying to leave an address on Sylvan Drive in a brown car. The male was in a cab but had gotten out of the vehicle and there was concern that he might be trying to get into another vehicle. Police arrived and arrested the male for public intoxication. He was released when sober.

11:20 a.m. – A resident reported that his truck and ATV were stolen from his property on Harrison Road in Sylvan Lake. The owner was not present and the keys were not in the truck at the time of the incident. An investigation is continuing into the matter.

February 10th

3:22 a.m. – RCMP members were on patrol on Highway 20 at 47th Avenue in Sylvan Lake when they spotted a possible impaired driver. They pulled over the vehicle and found the female driver to be intoxicated by drugs. The vehicle was seized for three days. A female is facing impaired driving charges.

February 11th

8:21 a.m. – Several incidences of vehicle vandalism were reported around Sylvan Lake of the February 9-10th weekend. Residents reported the windows smashed out on their vehicles which were parked at various locations including Reynolds Road, Rafferty Court, Wildrose Drive and Herder Drive. Anyone with information on those responsible for the vandalism is asked to contact Sylvan Lake RCMP.

7:10 p.m. – RCMP are investigating a break and enter into a residence in the Eckville area. A relative of the homeowner contacted police to advise that the house had been entered. The front door was kicked open to gain entry and the house was ransacked. A suspicious vehicle was spotted in the area at the time of the incident.

February 13th

3:52 a.m. – A routine patrol around Lakeshore Drive in Sylvan Lake has resulted in charges against a Sylvan Lake male. An RCMP officer noticed a truck drive through a stop sign at Lakeshore Drive at 40th Street and pulled over the vehicle. The male was found to have gross signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene. He is charged with two counts of impaired driving and failing to obey a stop sign.
