Traffic stop resulted in several charges being laid

A traffic stop was conducted at the Fas Gas on 50th Street in Sylvan Lake.

Saturday, March 15

2:20 a.m. - A traffic stop was conducted at the Fas Gas on 50th Street in Sylvan Lake. A RCMP member observed the driver of a vehicle entering the Fas Gas lot at a high rate of speed and skid toward the gas pumps. The driver was questioned and exhibited signs of impairment. A breathalyzer was administered and the male was arrested at the scene. A 32-year-old Red Deer male is charged with impaired driving, having a blood alcohol level over .08 and operating a motor vehicle without having a license in possession.

9:53 a.m. - A charge has been laid against a 51-year-old Sylvan Lake male in relation to a breach of a restraining order. The male was witnessed in an area in which a condition not to attend was issued and was arrested as a result. He is charged with two counts of failing to comply with conditions of a court order.

8:41 p.m. - A 51-year-old Sylvan Lake male is facing several charges in relation to breaches of a court order involving an ex-girlfriend. The victim reported that several calls were made to her in breach of a no contact order. The accused is now facing a charge of criminal harassment and nine counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Monday, March 17

6:25 a.m. - A vehicle was stolen overnight from an address on Fieldstone Way in Sylvan Lake. The vehicle was taken from the driveway of a residence but it was unknown if the car was locked. RCMP are currently investigating.

9:28 a.m. - RCMP in Blackfalds recovered a stolen truck from the Sylvan Lake area. The vehicle was stolen from in front of a residence on Lakeway Boulevard. The owner was not aware of the theft until after being contacted by police that the vehicle had been recovered. An investigation is ongoing.

9:40 p.m. - RCMP attended a domestic dispute on Range Road 12 in Red Deer County. Witnesses reported a female having a verbal dispute with a male in a vehicle parked off to the side of the road. Neither party was forthcoming with their identities when questioned by police. Further investigation revealed the vehicle to be stolen and the male was also found to be under warrant. Both are charged with possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000 and obstructing a peace officer. The male also faces numerous other charges.

Wednesday, March 19

10:42 p.m. - A domestic dispute at a residence on Harper Drive in Sylvan Lake has resulted in assault charges being laid against a 33 year-old Strathmore male. A 38-year-old female contacted 911 advising that she had been physically assaulted by her boyfriend. Alcohol was a factor in the incident.
