A new two-year collective agreement has been approved by employees of Sylvan Lake Lodge.

The employees, who are members of Health Care and Service Employees Union, Local 301, affiliated with the Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC), voted in favour of the agreement.

It includes a reduced probation period, payment of accumulated sick time for retiring employees, an increased shoe and work clothing allowance, and wage increases totalling 4.5 per cent over two years.

“I think the negotiations went well and met the needs and hopes of the majority of staff,” said Jody Norman, steward and bargaining committee member, in a news release Feb. 19. “Thank you to both parties for a successful negotiation process.”

Sylvan Lake Lodge employees approximately 30 health care workers who perform housekeeping and dietary duties.
