February 4, 1926 - November 20, 2020
Beverley Viola Staniforth (Patten) passed away peacefully on Friday November 20th ,2020 at the Bethany Long Term Care Home in Sylvan Lake, Alberta with her family by her side.
Bev was born in Turner Valley on Feb 4, 1926 where she lived with her parents, Alta and Harry Patten and her brother Ronald. She worked for the Royalite Gas Company before moving to Calgary to work for Imperial Oil.
Bev met her husband to be (Robert Staniforth, aka Dood) when she was 4 years old. They married on December 29, 1949 and were together in marriage for almost 72 years. They had four children: Robert Edwin (who died as an infant), Linda Ellen (deceased 2019), Beverley Carol and Craig Robert.
Bev is survived by Robert, Carol and Carol's husband Wayne Ramsay along with their children and grandchildren, as well as Craig and his wife Cindy and Craig's children and a grandson.
Bev was an avid gardener. She along with Robert won the Rural Beautification Competition, County of Red Deer. She was a founding member of the Evarts Community Club and was a 4-H leader. She was the secretary treasurer for the Benalto Agricultural Society and Stampede, won numerous awards for her sewing and helped with a variety of community related events and committees.
Bev was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and farmhand. She could balance the demands of farm duties with family life, seemingly with ease. She drove grain truck better than most; all the while keeping everyone fed. People were always welcome in the Staniforth home.
We fondly remember numerous friends and family that would occasionally drop-in for coffee and would end up staying for a full meal. Bev had a selfless nature, did the right thing always and was ahead of her time; being open-minded and forward thinking. She believed that death is just another part of life.
As a result of COVID, at this time there will be no memorial service.
Donations may be made in Bev's name directly to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada, Parkinson's Canada, or Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
