December 30, 1953 - October 5, 2020
Carolyn (Carol) was suddenly and unexpectedly taken from this life while at home on the afternoon of October 5th in Sylvan Lake, Alberta.
Carol was born in Carmangay, Alberta on December 30, 1953 to Reinhold and Anna Warnke. The family moved around to accommodate Reinhold's work on the oil rigs and settled in Millet, Alberta when Carol was young. In Millet she attended a one room schoolhouse, was a big sister and mother figure to seven siblings, loved being outside in nature doing anything (including chores), became an entrepreneur at an early age and spent her life dedicated to living in the moment. The family household was a busy place, but any chance Carol had to trade chores with her siblings, she took it; she would far rather be outside shovelling snow or doing yard work instead of washing dishes.
As Carol got older and entered high school in Wetaskiwin, Alberta she met the boy whom she decided would be her forever. David and Carol started dating at 16 years old and were engaged on Christmas Day 1973. The high school sweethearts were married on August 3, 1974 in Wetaskiwin at the Anglican Church. On July 9, 1977 they welcomed their daughter to the world named Julie Anna, "their Jewel". Through the many years that followed Carol and David steered the family business through thick and thin, working side by side for 42 years. Best friends, business partners, soul mates, they were always a perfect match.
Carol loved life deeply and would spend each and everyday making the most of every minute. She would never miss an opportunity to brighten someone else's day, even if hers was falling apart. She loved travel adventures with David, nature's creatures, the mountains, the sunrise, sunsets and especially the moon. On warm nights she would open the window of her shared childhood bedroom and climb onto the roof to take in the beauty of the stars and the moonlit night.
Carol is pre-deceased by her grandparents, mother Anna, father Reinhold, brothers Larry and Wilfred and sister Vera along with numerous other family members.
Family members who will forever keep her memory alive include her husband David, daughter Julie, son-in-law Colin, grandchildren Jessy and Ella, sisters Doris, Florence (husband Gary) and Nancy (husband Dale and nephew Brandon), brother Norman (wife Cindy, nephew Justin and niece Amy) and numerous other family members, friends and neighbours.
"How great would life be if we lived a little of it everyday ... Cheers"
A small service reserved for close family and friends will be held at a later date.
