July 15, 1929 - March 31, 2021
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Dorothy Mae Boomer, on March 31st, 2021. Dorothy was our loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Aunt, Sister-in-law, Cousin, and friend to all whose lives she touched.
Dorothy was born on July 15th, 1929, in Red Deer, Alberta and was raised in the Shady Nook district. She loved and connected with her Shady Nook family all these years.
It was in Red Deer that Mom met the love of her life, Harry Rae Boomer, and they danced lovingly together for 64 years, until Harry's passing in Feb 2014.
Mom was passionate about serving for the Royal Canadian Legion, to honor her Father's commitment in the Second World War.
She was an honorary member and co-founder of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch and chosen Silver Cross Mother. Dorothy was also an honorary member of the Moose Lodge in Red Deer, and she poured her heart into these organizations.
Her friends called her "Dot", and she LOVED to garden. Dot loved watching baseball and travelling to games with her sister. She also played and enjoyed curling, as well as cheering loudly for her Oilers.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Hurley Victor Lutz (Pete) and Vivia Madge (Nee Plummer), her fireball sister, Iva Evangeline Hemstreet (Rusty), and brother-in-law Douglas Brian Hemstreet.
Dorothy leaves behind her, two children; son Leonard (Valerie), daughter Donna (Peter), grandchildren; Mitch (Kristin) Boomer, Lisa Boomer (Cameron), Keir Hyde (Mandy) and 6 beautiful great- grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, 2 brothers-in-law, 1 sister-in-law, cousins, and many friends.
Dorothy was an inspiration to many. She lived a full life and believed in having fun.
Thank you to all who showed kindness to Mom at Revera Inglewood, Bremner Community Health Centre and Red Deer hospital. Thanks to all her dear family and friends for the outpouring of love for her.
We will all miss you Mom and love you forever.
