Doug was born on March 22, 1935 to parents Marjorie and Howard Cameron of Waskada, Manitoba. (now deceased) He passed away peacefully on January 14, 2016 at the hospital in Fort St. John, B.C. Doug went to school in Waskada and farmed the family farm. Off season he was a caretaker at the school and the rink, as well he as a school bus driver. He married Shirley Lorraine Culbertson in 1953. They had four children; Dwayne, Joelle, Brenda and Carla. Dad left farming in 1978 and headed to Alberta with Dwayne to pursue a livelihood in the oilfield. He retired at the age of 65 in the Benalto, AB. area, where he met many cherished friends. He headed further West to Fort. St. John, B.C. where he met and married Betty Aven in 2014. Dad's love for his family was the most important aspect of his life. He was a fun-loving, hard-working man. He taught us the benefits of doing a job and doing it well. Dad enjoyed fishing, camping and ski-dooing in his younger years. He loved music, dancing and family gatherings. Dad loved farming and the lifestyle it offered. He was proud to tell stories of his younger years in S.W. Manitoba. Upon moving West, Dad spent many years working as a drill push and water hauler until he retired.
