Predeceased by husband Mike Sofroniuk, son John and siblings Doris, Jack, Roy and Ralph.
Survived by her children Harold (Terry), Paul (Gail), Darlene and David, and grandchildren Sean and Christina; Carla and Ian; Neil and Garth, and great-grandchildren Ashley and Travis.
Eleanor was born and raised at her family farm north of Stirling, Ontario. The youngest of five children of parents Kenneth Burkitt Thompson and Evalena Thompson (Smith). After graduating high school and marrying, she moved to Oshawa, Ontario and raised her five children.
She later moved west to British Columbia and then to Alberta where she met her second husband. They settled in their home in Sylvan Lake, Alberta for many years until her passing.
Eleanor had several interesting careers over her life including real estate, retail management, and food services. She last position before retirement was at Valley Park Manor in Red Deer, Alberta.
She loved gardening and spending time with her family, and over her life was an active volunteer in her church and community.
In lieu of flowers if you so wish donations to the Sylvan Lake Food Bank, in memory of Eleanor Anne Thompson, would be appreciated.
Cremation has been entrusted to Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, AB.
