Gilbert, who was diagnosed with cancer in early January of this year, died Saturday morning on December 2, 2023. He was 65 years young, born and raised in Bonnyville and was a long-time resident and entrepreneur of Sylvan Lake. He was passionate about his Red Deer County rural community.
Gilbert is survived by his wife Kathy; his two children Meggan and Levi; and his siblings Gary, Shirley, Marjorie, Linda and Valerie. He was determined to live his life to the fullest, and his spirit and strength will be missed but will live on.
On Monday, December 11, 2023, friends and relatives paid tribute to the life of Gilbert Tkachuk at 1:30 pm at the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home. A reception followed at the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 212 Sylvan Lake at 2:30 pm where Gilbert's life was celebrated.
