April 30, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Gilles Pepin announces his passing on Friday, April 30, 2021, at the age of 72, after a courageous battle related to complications of Covid19. His loving wife of 18 years, Leanna, was by his side at the time of his passing.
Gilles was born in Fabre, Quebec and grew up in Sudbury, Ontario. He moved from Ontario to Ft. McMurray, Alberta in 1978, where he took on new life adventures and began his career at Syncrude, working in Mining.
Gilles was very proud of his long-lasting career and was fortunate to make many lifelong friends which remained a significant part of his life after retirement.
In 2007, Gilles and Leanna moved to Sylvan Lake, Alberta where they began their retirement dream together. The simplest pleasures in life, brought great joy to Gilles. He loved spending an evening with friends and family playing cards and enjoying a great glass of wine.
Gilles was a social butterfly that loved meeting with friends for afternoon coffee or enjoying a backyard fire and good food. He will also be remembered for his love of traveling the world alongside his loving wife Leanna.
As well as his amazing memory and love for trivia, fun facts, reading, enjoying the great outdoors and the stock market.
Gilles will be lovingly remembered by his wife and travel companion, Leanna and his children, Ginette Pepin, Carole Reider (Brent), Lucy Follet, Stacey McDougall and Nicole Lundberg.
Gilles will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Derek, Devon, Owen, Avery, Lauren, Brooklynne, Autum and Robin, and great-grandson Brody, as well as his brothers and sisters, Marcel (Anita), Robert (Florence), Theresa Yuvan (Robert), Monique Dawes and Susan Pepin.
Gilles was predeceased by parents Roland and Helene Pepin and brothers Roger and Donald. Gilles will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Please feel free to join in on a Moonlight moment of silence in remembrance of Gilles on his Birthday, Sunday, June 27, 2021 at 9 pm, at a location of your choice. During this time we ask that you raise your glass and take a moment of silence to reflect and cherish the memory of Gilles life.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Gilles to Cross Cancer Institute or the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
