Gladys Goodey passed away at Michener Extendicare, Red Deer, AB, on Monday, Apr 5th, 2021, following a lengthy illness. She approached each day
with an exceptional strength and courage.
Gladys was born at Three Hills, AB & grew up in the Trochu area. She attended Tro-Val school, achieving exceptional marks. She entered the RDC Nursing program (1971-1973), graduating in 1973 & worked at RDRHC from 1973 - 1982. In 1981, she became an active partner in her husband's business (Jim Goodey Sand & Gravel) until 2017.
Gladys & Jim looked forward to being snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona and were active volunteers with Helping Hands while there. Gladys also used her expertise with knitting machines to contribute to Blankets For Canada.
Gladys was predeceased by her parents Emile (Elsie) Ziegler; her parents-in-law Jack (Elsie) Goodey; her husband, friend, and soulmate Jim Goodey in 2017; also, sister-in-law Linda Goodey and brother-in- law Jerry Goodey.
Gladys is survived by one brother, Larry Ziegler; sister-in-law, Bonnie Dowler; 3 nieces, 4 nephews, numerous cousins, and friends.
We would like to thank the Doctors, Claude for his spiritual support, Admin, all staff & all staff of Unit 3800, Michener Extendicare for their kindness, concern, and excellent care of Gladys. You were very special to her.
A private graveside service will be held.
