April 2, 1934 - May 21, 2021
It is with great heartfelt sadness that we say goodbye to a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. Gordon Allen Befus passed away peacefully at Rimbey Long Term Care Centre on May 21st at the age of 87.
Gordon was born to Henry and Pauline Befus of Red Willow on April 2nd, 1934. He was raised in the Red Willow and Botha district, a farmer's son. He met the love of his life Margie Gaetz in Botha and they were married July 20th, 1956 at Saint Peter's Lutheran Church in Stettler.
Gordon spent the majority of his career in the oilfield, which moved him and his family to various places all over Alberta. After leaving the oil patch, he took a barbers course in Calgary and bought a barber shop in Sylvan Lake, where he worked and raised his family for many years.
After leaving Sylvan Lake, Gordon and Margie moved to an acreage in Benalto, where they spent many happy years together before his passing. He lived a very active lifestyle and enjoyed baseball, hockey, curling, horseshoe, dancing and jamming as well as camping.
In his later years, he and Margie spent many summers in their fifth wheel traveling to various jams around Alberta, where they would sing and dance among friends. Gordon was a very devoted family man and was so proud of all his sons and grandchildren.
He always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips and his kind, humorous spirit will live on through all those he left behind.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife Margie two months short of their 65th wedding anniversary. Three sons, Lance (Shelly) Befus, Wes (Crystal) Befus and Kim Befus.
Seven grandchildren, Michelle (Todd) Fisher, Lyndsay Gauthier, Cody (Michelle) Gauthier, Layne Befus, Jamie Befus, Eric (Rebeka) Befus and Jarod Befus. As well as eight great-grandchildren, Mykelti, Shayla, Cemara, Emerie, Xylis, Daytan, Lyrik and Jace.
Gordon was predeceased by an infant son, his parents, as well as his siblings, Walter and Helen.
At Gordon's request, there will be no funeral.
If desired, memorial donations in Gordon's name may be made to the Rimbey Long Term Care Centre or to the foundation of choice.
As Grandpa would say, "It's not good-bye, it's only see you later"
