In Loving Memory ~
Jean Olava Marie Straub (nee Teigen) was born October 25, 1934, at Yates, near Edson, AB and passed on Sunday, February 6, 2022, in Calgary, AB at the age of 87 years.
She is survived by her sisters, Inga Nijssen, Marjorie Spreen, Karen (Ron) Radke, and Elisa Martin; and by brothers, John (Janet) Teigen, and Alvin (Marilyn) Teigen.
Jean was predeceased by her first husband, William Monroe; second husband, Otto Straub; her parents, Ragnvald (Ray) and Muriel Teigen; and brother, Orwell Teigen.
Jean was born on a homestead and loved farm life and the animals. She learned to play many musical instruments, especially the violin and organ. Her career took her to Edmonton where she first worked for Sunlife Insurance and then for many years as a supervisor at the main Post Office until her retirement to the Eckville area.
She was compassionate and helped many people if they were experiencing difficult times. She will be missed by her extended family and friends.
We would like to express thanks for the love and care that she received at the Eckville Manor, various hospitals and the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary. Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Jean's life will occur in the spring of 2022. No details are available at this time.
