1943-2023 ~ Mrs. Karon Florence Weir (Cumpstone) of Innisfail, Alberta passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the age of 79 years. Karon was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan and later the family moved to Sylvan Lake, Alberta where she spent most of her childhood.
She worked at AGT as a switchboard operator and then as a supervisor in Calgary, Alberta after meeting and marrying William (Bob) Weir. They travelled to Bogota, Colombia for Bob's work with three young children and lived there for two years.
They returned to Canada and remained in Alberta until moving again, for Bob's work to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia after their children had grown.
After one and a half years and many adventures there, they returned to Canada, residing in Calgary, Alberta until moving to Innisfail to be close to grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed travelling, reading, sewing, knitting, as well as many other hobbies, and spending time with her family and friends.
Karon is lovingly remembered by her husband of fifty-six years, William (Bob) Weir, and her three children, Anthony (Magdalena) Weir, Dawn (Dennis) Fehr and Sheldon Weir (Noreen - dec.), she will also be deeply missed by her four grandchildren, Grayson, Jocelyn, Brianna and Ashley, as well as six great-grandchildren.
Karon is also lovingly remembered by three sisters, Mary Lou Untinen, Linda Krause, Kris Perrin and one brother, Ron Cumpstone, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, Bruce Cumpstone and Florence (Gladue), as well as her sister, Carol Rathwell and brother Edward Cumpstone.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If desired, Memorial Donations, in Karon's honor may be made to the Children's Hospital, Canadian Cancer Foundation or any worthy charity of the donor's choosing.
