Klara Henny Lindstrom

February 23, 1929 – October 14, 2017

Mrs. Klara Lindstrom passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the age of 88 years.

Klara along with her husband Gus moved to Canada from Denmark in 1953 to Lacombe and then finally settling in the Sylvan Lake area to their farm.

In the early days Klara stayed on the farm raising the children and Gus provided for his family by doing construction – Lindstrom Construction. In 1981 they developed, owned and operated the Calida Greyhound Racing Track and greyhound racing became a family run business.

She was a strong woman with a pioneer spirit, involved in family and community.

She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son, John (Terry) Lindstrom of Airdrie; daughter, Donna (Ron) Roback of Rimbey, her son-in-law, Doug Riches of Red Deer County; her grandchildren, Steven, Keifer, Christopher (Melissa), Jennifer (Cecil) and Dallen; great grandchildren, Aurora, Leia and Logan as well as her family in Denmark and many friends. Klara was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Gus and her daughters, Benta and Lisa Riches.

A celebration of Klara’s life will be held at the Sylvan Lake Lions Hall, 5119 50A Ave, Sylvan Lake, Alberta, on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 1:00 and 4:00 P.M.

Memorial donation in Klara’s name made be made directly to a charity of the donor’s choice.
