February 1, 1942 – May 15, 2020
Larry Neil McBride passed away in his sleep on May 15, 2020 at home in Sylvan Lake. He is survived by his sister Linda Ellis (Alfred) of Three Hills, his son Todd McBride (Marlo) of Sylvan Lake, daughter Stacy Adams (Jonathan) of Victoria, son Wayne Beauchamp of Drayton Valley, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry was predeceased by his wife Janet in 1990.
Larry was born in 1942 and adopted by Lyle & Norma McBride of Sangudo, AB. Larry was an avid hockey player in his youth. He began working as a heavy equipment operator at a young age on road and bridge construction jobs. Later, Larry worked on many pipeline projects all over western and northern Canada. Larry was a standing member of the Operating Engineers Local 955 for over 50 years.
Larry spent many years on the family farm in the Sylvan Lake area, returning later in life to live in his childhood house in Sangudo. After Larry retired in 1997, he began to search for his birth family. He was successful in finding his birth mother, Lily Janssen, and had the opportunity to know his many brothers and sisters in the Janssen family of Barrhead, AB.
The family would like to offer many thanks to the kind staff at Bethany Sylvan Lake for the excellent care they provided for Larry during his time there.
Internment will take place at Sangudo cemetery with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Bethany Sylvan Lake in Larry’s memory. https://bethanyseniors.com/communities/bethany-sylvan-lake/
