Linda Mary Forsyth (nee Renwick)

July 16, 1944 - April 21, 2023
In loving memory ~

Our cherished mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Care Centre on April 21, 2023. She is survived by her brother Laurie (Doris), daughter Jane (Stuart), son Mike (Carey) as well as beloved grandchildren Adeline, Elise, Amy, Celia, Lauren and Adam. Linda was predeceased by parents Amy and Walter, sister Julie in 2000, and husband Bob in 2022.

Linda was born a middle child to Walter and Amy Renwick who raised their three children on a dairy farm in rural Manitoba. Linda excelled in school, was always the head of the class and even won the provincial spelling bee in 1958! 

Linda attended teacher's college in Winnipeg and explored her love of literature as she specialized in English language arts. She taught in Winnipeg and then New Westminster, and in 1967 she met the love of her life, Bob, at a friend's wedding. They married in Neepawa in 1968 and settled down in Calgary, where Jane and Michael were born in 1973 and 1974. The family moved to their upgraded cabin on the shores of Sylvan Lake in 1981 when Bob accepted a teaching position in nearby Bentley. Linda also taught at Bentley School on and off over the years and then spent many happy years teaching ESL in Red Deer to new Canadians. Linda was also active in her church, particularly the choir, where her high soprano voice was highly prized.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Rimbey Care Centre for their kind and loving care of Linda over the last 5 years. 

A celebration of Linda's life will be held at the Sylvan Lake Memorial Presbyterian Church on Tuesday July 25th at 2 pm. Light refreshments will be served following the service. All are welcome.
