Lorna Elizabeth

March 30, 1946 - May 11, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorna Elizabeth Nash, beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Lorna was born the oldest child to Rodrick McGill and Eileen Parsons on March 30, 1946, in England, where Rodrick was stationed with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a flight officer/air gunner with the Halifax bombers. After the war, he returned to a small town in Saskatchewan and became the station agent with the CPR. After waiting a year for passage, Eileen and Lorna arrived in Canada to join him, passengers on the famous ship the Queen Mary, filled with other war brides and babies. They moved several times and when Lorna was 18, she moved to Saskatoon and took a hairdressing course at Marvel. After completing her course, Lorna moved to Kindersley to accept a hair dressing position. She boarded at the Nash's home where she met the love of her life, Jim Nash. They have been married for 43 years and have two sons, Darcy from Camrose (married to Donna with two children Miranda and Brad) and Joseph from Airdrie (married to Caryanne with three children Darion, Haley, and Devin). After 25 years in Kindersley, farming and owning the taxi company, Lorna, Jim and their two boys moved to Sylvan Lake in 1990, where they owned and operated the local taxi company for 14 years. They have been retired for 8 years now and Jim still resides in Sylvan Lake. Celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Sylvan Lake at the Alliance church, 4404 - 47 Avenue Sylvan Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society, care of Lorna Nash. 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer Alberta, T4R 3S6.
