Robert (Bob) Forsyth

In loving memory ~
On August 19th, 2022, Bob Forsyth passed away peacefully at home on his farm near Bentley, Alberta, at the age of 80. Bob is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Jane (Stuart), son Mike (Carey), and grandchildren Adeline, Elise, Amy, Celia, Lauren and Adam. Bob was predeceased by his parents Wilf & Inez and his brother Jack.
Born and raised in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Bob was the first in his family to attend university and completed a B.Sc. and B. Ed. at U of M before beginning his teaching career. Bob and Linda met in 1967 in Winnipeg and were married in August 1968. They settled in Calgary and welcomed to their lives Jane in 1973 and Mike in 1974. The family moved permanently to their upgraded cabin at Sylvan Lake in 1981 when Bob took a new teaching position at Bentley School.
Bob's energetic and fun-loving spirit was appreciated by countless students throughout his career, as he enthusiastically taught high school mathematics and science and one year of grade 6! He took advantage of early retirement in 1997, spending the next 15 years selling advertising for local phone directories and growing spruce trees for sale on the 60 acres of land he and Linda had purchased in 1993 and relocated to in 2002. His tree business and his work with the phone directories brought him much enjoyment as he made meaningful connections in communities throughout Central Alberta. In recent years, Bob kept busy on his acreage and caring for his beloved wife, Linda, who has resided at the Rimbey Care Centre since the fall of 2018.
Bob loved life and loved all the people he met on his journey with openness and kindness. His corny wit, twinkling eyes and easy grin will be greatly missed.
Bob's family invite his many alumni, friends, and neighbours to join us at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24th for a celebration of life at the Blindman Valley Agricultural Centre in Bentley.
