July 4, 1934 - December 3, 2023

In loving memory ~

Roy Theodore (Ted) Wolfe, of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023. Ted was 89 years old.

Born in Trochu, Alberta, on July 4th, 1934, to Carl and Lottie Wolfe, his family moved from the various Alberta towns of Trochu, Royalties, and Black Diamond over the years before finally landing in Calgary in 1947. It was in his pre-teen years he began caddying at the Calgary Golf and Country Club and then later to be taught by one of their golf pros. His love for this sport was born! He graduated from Western Canada High School.

In his earlier work years, Ted worked with Esso Canada and Laurentide Finance companies. He met and married Autumn (Kay) White from Red Deer in 1957 and would father three children with her: Bradley, Kimberlee, and Michael.

Ted began travelling the province extensively for New Holland Farm Machinery in the late 60s and early 70s, managing the Peace River market. While living in Dawson Creek, Ted met Megan (Morgan) Wood (Pre-deceased 2018) and her twin boys Jed and Jeff. Married in 1974, together they formed and operated a successful business enterprise - Thrifty Rentals for approximately 30 years. Married for over 40 years; they enjoyed the fruits of their business; formed many lifelong friendships; traveled extensively and pursued their love of golf by traveling to many of North America's popular golf courses.

Due to their passion, they eventually settled and built their final home on the Sylvan Lake Golf and Country Club in 1996. For 25 plus years, they took pleasure living there, close to the Wood family members and wintered in Palm Springs annually. Golf being the catalyst for many of their valued friendships, Ted (and Megan) golfed the many courses with friends in Alberta, BC, and California! Most weekend afternoons found Ted watching whatever PGA/LPGA tournament that was on television.

Ted is survived by Bradley, Kimberlee and Michael Wolfe, and Jed and Jeff Wood and many relatives.

Family would like to recognize Alison Wood of Sylvan Lake for her friendship and support of Ted after Megan's passing in 2018. A special tip of the golf cap goes out to one of his golf buddies - John Stone, who visited Ted almost weekly during his last year of life! Lastly, a grateful acknowledgement goes out to all the amazing staff at the Sylvan Lake Bethany Supportive Living Residence for their tremendous care of Ted since he arrived in March 2023. He really valued living there and so appreciated their kindness and quality of care provided to him daily!

As requested by Ted, there will not be a memorial service or celebration of life.

Ted and Megan can now drive their golf cart together down that grand eternal fairway.
