Another serious accident at highways 20 and 11 intersection

Regarding the Highway 781/Highway 11 issue.

Dear Editor,

Regarding the Highway 781/Highway 11 issue.

Once again today, I arrived at the intersection of Highway 20 and Highway 11 to find a serious accident had just occurred. I have lost count of the number of accidents I have come across at that hazardous intersection.

The controversy regarding the Highway 781/Highway 11 intersection seems to have died down considerably, as citizens of Sylvan Lake have realized that their concerns have simply been ignored in favour of a decision taken against the will of the majority; a decision that seems to fly in the face of safety and common sense.

The Highway 20/Highway 11 intersection is very dangerous, and many of the accidents result from cars turning onto Highway 20 north from the eastbound lanes of Highway 11. The westbound lanes of Highway 11 approach the intersection uphill, and it is difficult to always see oncoming traffic.

I would be very interested to see the statistics concerning the accident rate at this intersection, real numbers, not some fabricated spin designed to bolster the misguided decision.

G. Brooke Carter,

Sylvan Lake
