Community spirit harnessed

I want to say what an honour it is to serve my home town as Mayor of Sylvan Lake!

Dear Editor,

I want to say what an honour it is to serve my home town as Mayor of Sylvan Lake! At the forefront of my mind a-midst all of our Hockeyville fever, is knowledge that this effort, these votes, are simply a sign of our community spirit and our willingness to work together for our community! I’m thankful to be among the Sylvan Lakers involved in this effort, and I’m reminded again of the spirit of the town I know and love!

I want to encourage everyone to keep up the great work as the Hockeyville competition carries on through the month of March, and the winner is announced on April 5th. I believe Sylvan Lake is Hockeyville, AND we are so much more! After the competition ends we run straight into National Volunteer Week and the Leader of Tomorrow Awards in April, Victoria Day in the month of May which is Sylvan Lake’s unofficial start of summer, 1913 Days in June, Canada Day celebrations in July, Jazz At The Lake in August and so on, and so on.

Our town and our 13,015+ residents are diverse, passionate and strong! I’m happy to celebrate our hockey roots and that Sylvan Lake can pull together for this cause. We will continue to celebrate all the things that make our community an amazing place to live and grow.

For those of you voting Sylvan Lake for Hockeyville, THANK YOU for your support! Please continue voting as the competition continues, knowing that whatever the outcome may be, we are all in this together! Together we are showing the rest of Canada and the world, that when Sylvan Lakers face adversity our community comes out stronger and more united!

Proud to be a Sylvan

Laker,

Sean McIntyre, Mayor

Town Of Sylvan Lake
